We spend countless hours. even if it's a hobby, we invest time and money, and we even go to events and take pictures with people who enjoys seeing our costumes, we collaborate with photography students or amateurs, we promote characters (this is not a minor thing) and products from the entertainment industry. Sometimes we are even blamed of spending "too much time" and wasting (our own) resources... when what we do is being creative and invest time in a healthy occupation. Yes, it can start as a hobby, but it can me much more than that!
Why if a brand pays to movies, personalities or even influencers to promote their products, cosplayers are ignored most of times?
We even teach eachother out techniques and we teach people who is just starting... we share all the time! Amazing cosmakers make great work and they could even be ignored if they don't do something that is sexy or very attractive to certain audiences... and without someone to help them stand out, is nearly impossible...
